British PM Wants Decisive Departure From EU

British Prime Minister Theresa May says Britain will seek a decisive departure from the European Union.

In a speech Tuesday before foreign diplomats and British civil servants in London, May said she will not pursue an agreement that leaves Britain “half in, half out” of the E.U.

May said both houses of the British parliament will vote Friday on a final deal to exit the E.U.

May’s government has been criticized by investors, businesses and legislators for disclosing little about the future relationship Britain will seek with the E.U. when formal divorce negotiations begin by the end of March.

The talks are expected to be among the most complicated in European history after World War II. The final agreement could shape the future of the United Kingdom and even the European Union.
